FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
At PrecisionMD Wellness and Weight Loss, we want you to feel confident and informed about your care. Here are answers to the questions we’re asked most often.
Weight Loss FAQs
Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications like semaglutide or tirzepatide?
Do I have to stay on medication forever?
Can I get phentermine (Adipex)?
Yes, when medically appropriate. Alabama law requires monthly in-person visits for phentermine, and it cannot be prescribed via telemedicine.
Do I have to follow a specific diet while on medication?
Do you provide meal plans?
We don’t prescribe rigid meal plans because they aren’t sustainable long-term. However, we provide self-guided nutrition resources through our digital platform, and personalized plans can be created with a registered dietitian through Nourish (often covered by insurance).
How much weight will I lose on medication?
Results vary. Some patients lose 5–25% of body weight, while others lose more or less. What matters most is consistency, safety, and sustainability.
Hormone Therapy FAQs
Do you offer hormone pellet therapy?
Yes. Pellets are a convenient, long-lasting option available at our clinics. They provide steady hormone levels for 3–6 months.
What are bioidentical hormones?
Bioidentical hormones are chemically identical to the ones your body produces naturally. We use FDA-approved options whenever available and compounded versions only when medically necessary.
Can men get hormone therapy too?
Yes. We provide testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for men, using methods such as injections, gels, patches, or pellets.
Do I need labs before starting hormone therapy?
Yes. We require recent labs. If you don’t have recent results, we can order them for you.
How soon will I feel results from hormone therapy?
Some patients notice improvements within weeks, while for others it may take a few months as hormone levels stabilize.
Is hormone therapy safe long-term?
When prescribed by trained providers with regular lab monitoring, hormone therapy is considered safe for most patients.
Wellness Services FAQs
What vitamin injections do you offer?
We currently provide B12, Lipo-B (Lipoject), and Vitamin D injections
Do I need to be a patient to get vitamin injections or a body composition scan?
No. You do not have to be an established PrecisionMD patient. These services are open to everyone and often available on a walk-in basis.
Can anyone get a SECA body composition scan?
Yes. SECA scans are available to both patients and non-patients. They cost $50 for non-patients and are free for active PrecisionMD patients.
Do vitamin injections really work better than pills?
Yes. Injections bypass digestion and deliver nutrients directly into the muscle, making absorption faster and more reliable.
Telemedicine FAQs
What services can I do through telemedicine?
Many weight loss consultations, hormone consultations for women, lab reviews, and follow-ups can be done virtually.
Can I get phentermine or testosterone via telemedicine?
No. Controlled substances such as phentermine and testosterone require in-person visits.
Can women start hormone therapy through telemedicine?
Yes. Consultations, lab reviews, and treatment planning can be done virtually. Pellet insertions and certain treatments still require in-person visits.
Can I switch between in-person and telemedicine visits?
Yes. Many patients combine both depending on convenience and clinical needs.
Do I have to be in Alabama for my telemedicine appointment?
Yes. State licensing laws require you to be physically located in Alabama at the time of your appointment.
